The Triumph-powered Moto2™ World Championship returned to action for the final time ahead of the summer break this weekend, with the series returning to the iconic Sachsenring circuit. Ivan Ortola secured victory in a blistering German Grand Prix, as Round 11 concluded in the scorching German sun.

After securing pole position with a lap record lap time, Ortola made a strong start from the head of the grid, launching into turn one at the front with Izan Guevara and Manuel González slotting in behind from their front row starts.

Track position was crucial in the opening stages of the 25-lap Grand Prix, with riders extracting maximum performance from their Street Triple 765 RS engine. Both Senna Agius and David Alonso muscled their way ahead of González on the opening lap before the group settled into their rhythm on lap five.

Ticking off the laps and managing their rear tyres, the leading riders resumed battle on lap 17 with Alonso striking past Agius into turn one. A clean pass up the inside promoted the Spanish rider to fifth, but a highside later on ended his charge.

Meanwhile, the action was heating up at the head of the field as a fading Ortola fell into the clutches of Holgado, who looked to have managed his rear tyre better. With the Aspar Team rider desperately looking for a way through, the Czech Grand Prix victor defended superbly and hung on for a second win of the season ahead of Holgado, who gave it everything to get ahead.

Guevara completed the podium places, with Agius securing fourth. A late pass from Moto2 rookie Taiyo Furusato promoted him ahead of González, who took the flag in sixth. The top 10 was completed by Filip Salač, José Antonio Rueda, Colin Veijer and Speed RS’ Luca Lunetta.

The Moto2 World Championship returns to action in early August as the Triumph-powered Moto2 machines come home to Silverstone for the British Grand Prix.
